Do you know what are dinosaurs? Dinosaurs are reptiles which appeared on Earth about 230 million years ago. The name of dinosaur was created by Richard Owen, an English scientist, in 1841. He got that name from the Greek, it means fearfully great lizard. Dinosaurs consist of two main groups, they are saurischians and ornithischians.Saurischian calls "lizardlike hip", because it has hipbones similar to those of modern crocodiles. There are two further groups of Saurischians. They are Theropods and Sauropods. Theropods or we can call "beast feet" are carnivores (meat eaters). They usually walk upright on their back legs. They has huge feet, with three or more toes. Their front limbs are very small.
There are some kind of this group. Such as Allosaurus and Tyrannosaurus. The other further groups of Saurischian is Sauropods or we can call "lizard feet". Sauropods are herbivores. They usually walk on all four legs. Ornithischians or birdlike hip are plant eaters. There are two fuether groups pf Ornithischians. They are Ornithopoda and Stegosauria. Ornithopoda or we can call "bird feet" similar with modern birds, but it is bigger than any bird that we have ever seen. The other one is Stegosauria or plated lizard. It has a small head. Its body is up to 30 ft.
Now, dinosaurs died out and no one knows why it
happened. Some people gave opinion about it. Someone said that is because the habitat of dinosaurs were destroyed, so dinosaurs couldn't live well and then died. Another one said that the earth was struck by a meteorite, so all of dinosaurs died. We don't know which is true. But we are lucky because we can know about dinosaurs from work of archaeologists and scientists.
